A Catholic Night Prayer to Stop Overthinking and Find Peace

Are you lying awake tonight, replaying the events of the day in your mind? When the house is quiet, it is so easy for our minds to become loud. Overthinking can make us feel trapped in our own thoughts, worrying about conversations we had, mistakes we made, or things we cannot control.

If your mind is exhausted from overthinking tonight, take a deep breath. You are in a safe place. Play the video below, close your eyes, and let God’s gentle voice interrupt the noise in your head to give you the rest you deserve.

Lord, I come to You tonight with a tired and heavy mind. The day is over, but my thoughts are still racing. I keep replaying moments, worrying about what I said, what I did, and what tomorrow will bring. My mind feels like a stormy sea, and I am struggling to find the shore.

I ask You, Lord, to step into the boat of my mind and say, "Peace, be still."

Help me to release everything that I cannot change. If I made mistakes today, I trust in Your forgiveness. If I am worried about tomorrow, I surrender it into Your capable hands. You tell us not to worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.

As I lay here, I give You every looping thought, every 'what if,' and every lingering fear. Replace the noise in my head with the quiet whisper of Your love. Let Your Holy Spirit calm my breathing, relax my shoulders, and bring a deep, undisturbed sleep to my body.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
